Japan and UNDP Launch US$3 Million Sustainable Minerals Initiative

On 30 October, Japan and the United Nations Development Programme launched a US$3 million initiative to improve environmental governance and responsible development of Kazakhstan’s rare-earth and rare-metal industries. The project will focus on pollution prevention, environmental standards and digital monitoring across a sector with more than 120 identified mineral deposits.
